Energy in Today's Classroom

Every year, Ozark Electric Cooperative sponsors two Science/Ag teachers to attend an energy education program entitled “Energy in Today’s Classroom.” The 2024 course is scheduled to take place July 31 - August 1, 2024, in Jefferson City, Missouri.


Active middle or high school Science/Ag teachers in Ozark Electric's service area are eligible to apply for the scholarship(s). The scholarship will cover all expenses including tuition, meals, mileage, instructional material, and lodging.

The emphasis of the course’s content will be energy, with educators from the University of Missouri-Columbia and industry experts conducting classes. The course is equivalent to 15 hours of professional development.


Course content will include:

  • Energy basics
  • Power generation and transmission
  • Energy efficiency and circuitry project
  • Energy sources
  • Economics and energy production
  • Electrical vehicle demonstration
  • Description of instructional materials
  • Tour of power generation station
