How To Use The Demand Estimator

To understand how using multiple household appliances at once impacts your demand charges, start by selecting the appliances your household commonly uses simultaneously. You’ll quickly see how running several appliances together can lead to higher charges. Choose between Summer or Winter to see how seasonal changes influence which appliances contribute to demand costs. By toggling appliances on and off in this online estimator, you can explore how staggering the use of large appliances helps manage your energy consumption and reduce demand charges.

What is Demand and how does it work?

Demand is the maximum amount of power (kW) drawn for any given time interval during the billing period at your location. The demand is reset each month after the billing cycle at your location. The meter captures the highest demand at your location each month averaged from a 15-minute block. This demand is then listed on the monthly billing. Once the billing cycle is processed the demand is reset and the meter captures the next month’s information. We encourage you to monitor the demand at your location on SmartHub. Learn more here

The Demand Estimator is for informational purposes only and displays estimated wattage of common appliances on Ozark Electric Power's Standard Residential rate and does not include Energy Charges or Fixed Charges.
